On Saturday I met up with an old friend for brunch. As it happens when you meet up with a friend you haven’t seen in awhile brunch turned into an architectural tour of London which then turned into coffee to warm up.
Fed up of the usual chain coffee shops which a tad soul destroying at times, it was really nice to step into the super cosy and welcoming Workshop Coffee Co, to warm our numb fingers and put a spring into our step again.
Currently, only with two locations in London, we went to the cosy Marylebone store on Wigmore Street just a stumbling distance from the manic Oxford Circus. Tucked into a corner (there’s only room for 14 lucky customers, however, the flow of take away customers was endless) and taking in the gorgeous baby blue beauty gurgling out the delicious dark nectar. Roasting their own coffee in their larger store located in Clerkenwell and the company strapline being ‘sourcing, roasting and serving the best coffee possible’, you know you are truly in for a treat.
Between us, we went for a Mocha and a Hot Chocolate. There may have even been a Caramelised Pecan Muffin with two forks too. True to correct Italian coffee etiquette a glass of sparkling water is served with your drinks as apparently it helps to cleanse your palate before having your delicious coffee. The hot chocolate was rich and creamy without having to be masked with a mountain of whipped cream and the Mocha had the rich chocolate note only to be enhanced with the deep coffee flavour.

The muffin was jam-packed with buttery crisp pecans stunning a soft moist muffin. One muffin between two greedy people was never going to be enough. Give Workshop a go and you won’t be craving your weekly visit to the green Seattle queen anymore.
