Fancy a sweet treat that isn’t too sweet, sounds not possible, but hold your horses, cause I’ve got a recipe for you! Miso and Black Sesame Rice Krispie Bars. With nutty, salty, rich notes from the white miso and earthy black sesame to offset the super sweetness of the marshmallows. They’re a grown-up take on the nostalgic treat we all know and love, with a depth of flavour that’ll have you reaching for seconds (or thirds—no judgment here).
The miso adds this subtle, salty depth that enhances the sweetness without overpowering it, while the black sesame brings a nutty, slightly smoky vibe that makes everything feel a little more… sophisticated. Think of it as your favourite childhood treat that went on a culinary gap year.
The best part? These bars are ridiculously easy to whip up. No baking, minimal mess, and major flavour payoff. They’re perfect for a dinner party dessert, a midday snack, or just a little something special to keep stashed in the kitchen for whenever you need a pick-me-up. Trust me, once you try these, you’ll never look at the humble Rice Krispie bar the same way again.
