There’ are so many great places in London to grab a quick sweet treat, so if I’ve missed your favourite drop me a line and tell where I should try. Drum roll please…. in no particular order my top 5 sweet treat spots in London.
1. Paul.A Young Chocolates
No list of London’s best sweet treats would be complete without a mention of Paul.A. Young’s beautiful chocolates and other cocoa wares. I’m a total fan girl and have written many times about my love for these sexy chocolates, here, here, here, here, here, here and here – phew that’s a whole lot of love! What makes them so good, the selection is incredible and always changing with specials but the classics like the Sea Salted Caramel, Passion fruit Curd and the Classic Brownies are to die for. The quality is super high so you don’t feel guilty about treating yourself to a truffle or 12….
2. Dum Dum Donutteries
These guys were a new discovery for me and oh boy am I happy to find this gem. Dum Dum Donutteries are based in Box Park Shoreditch and are a beacon of naughty naughty sweet treats like Crème Brûlée doughnuts and Strawberry Purée Fondant. But my favourite is the Croissant Doughnuts. SAY WHAT?!?! And not your usual boring cronuts , oh no that won’t do. The Zebra – Layers of Croissant dough and chocolate croissant dough. Filled with chocolate butter crème and decorated with dark chocolate – hubba hubba.
3. Peggy Porschen Cake Parlour
If you are in need to rest your weary toes in a oasis of pink and sweet treats, try out Peggy Porschen Cake Parlour. I loved the Salted Caramel Cupcake, ‘Light and fluffy vanilla sponge filled with dulce de leche and sea salt, topped with a salted caramel cream cheese frosting and mini chunks of toffee. ‘ So very naughty, but not overly sweet and the right amount of frosting to have enough with the cake without overpowering the rest of the cake. Dream worthy. There’s even the option to have pink champagne with your cupcake, lavish!
4. Primrose Bakery
You can’t just have one cupcake stop while you’re in London, you never know how far you will be to the next cupcake! I went on the Primrose Bakery‘s cupcake decorating class with my cousins and loved every sugary moment. I love the Salted Caramel Cupcake as it’s truly addictive, the right balance of salty and sweet. And even if you’re off to the theatre, why not load up on cupcakes to take in with you, much better than those boring jelly sweets!
5. Sketch
For the toilets alone you should visit Sketch – they are crazy space eggs! But you should really visit them for the amazing array of desserts and pastries in The Parlour. I visited as a part of a chocolate tour around Mayfair and tried out the hot chocolate, dark and thick enough to stand a spoon in, small sips are necessary to get though this beauty . They could of left me here to sip on hot chocolate all day. And one of the best pastries I had ever tried in my life. The buttery, flaky, with a slight salty pastry crispened with the caramelised sugar top hides a middle of sharp apple which is a dream combination.
Where else should I add to my list of places to try?
