Plum + Spilt Milk, London – Review

Another friends birthday was upon us and another excuse to find somewhere for a fabulous lunch to spend far too long talking and laughing too loud whilst tucking into some divine food.

Jen picked very wisely in the form of Plum + Spilt Milk, based in the Great Northern Hotel opposite the rather grand St Pancras station. Surround in deep navy and gold whilst sinking into deep leather booths.

We raised a birthday toast to Jen and wished her many happy returns. I went for the refreshing mocktail (as I boringly driving back to Brizzle) the Apple Mojito with ginger beer.  Light and without being overly sweet from the ginger.

Being a Sunday we had the delicious Sunday Roast menu to choose from and I went for the honey-glazed gammon with Savoy cabbage & parsley sauce. Thick tender gammon, slathered with buttery creamy parsley sauce served with heritage carrots and french beans and roasted new potatoes. Simply delicious.

After much catching up and planning the next meet ups, it was dessert time. And when you see what was on offer you can understand why it was a hard decision for us to make. Char went for the delicious sounding iced peanut & salted-caramel mousse, served with lashings of warm caramel sauce poured over top. It was out of this world! Such a fabulous dessert.

But there was the dessert for me and it was the Cold Valrhona chocolate fondant. Crisp caramelised wafer base, rich rich chocolate mousse topped with a cloud of chocolate shavings…..

But lurking in the middle like a true fondant gem, was an oozing middle of more chocolate joy. Oh so joy!

We had such a fantastic lunch and as ever great friends paired with great food makes for one memorable Sunday. We all would highly recommend a visit, I want to go back to try their dinner menu now.
